Manage Application menu changes as of the 23.09 release

Several key features of the Manage > Application menu have been edited and enhanced for the 23.09 release. Note these enhancements are applicable to App managers and their options for adding and managing users on their intranet.

Single Sign-on (SSO)

SSO has been moved from Manage > Application > Integrations to Manage > Application > Security > External IdP (SSO)

  • Post-upgrade with the new solution, existing connections of SSO will be retained for all the customers. There are no changes that will affect your SSO connection.

Security tab

A new tab labeled Simpplr IdP (non-SSO) has been added in the Security menu to allow App managers to select non-SSO login identifiers (Email/Mobile/Alternate) and account verification questions required for Alternate login identifier.

  • For existing non-SSO users, Email identifier should be checked by default.
  • A new option labeled Login type has been added. Existing customers will have SSO only selected by default.
  • The Login access policies tab has been removed. There were two settings on this tab previously.

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

  • MFA has been removed. First-time users will authenticate themselves with a one-time verification code if they use email/mobile as their login identifier and with account verification questions if they use their employee number. Existing users will continue to log in directly with their passwords without any extra authentication.
  • Post-upgrade, there will not be a setting to enable/disable MFA, but users will continue to log in seamlessly.

Security questions

Security questions will not be an optional setting, which if enabled, gets applied for all the users. It is now a verification mechanism for deskless users (alternate login identifiers).

  • Employee number login users will create their security questions while logging in, and use the same during password setup.
  • Email and Phone number login users do not need to set security questions. They will use a one-time verification code for first-time registration and password reset. This code will be sent to their email address or phone number.

User provisioning/syncing/deprovisioning via SFTP

  • Simpplr User Services (SFTP) is available as the provisioning source (can also be used for user reactivation). Learn more here.
  • Simpplr User Services (SFTP) is available as the syncing source.
  • Simpplr User Services (SFTP) is available as the deprovisioning source.

Manage users

For the existing option to bulk upload users via CSV file:

  • There is an updated UI that offers a more streamlined workflow.
  • An example CSV has been added to easily download and use to populate your data.
  • User syncing/reactivation/deprovisioning is supported.
  • The Add user button has an updated UI, offering a clearer workflow for manually adding users one at a time.
  • In the existing users list, the bulk action to "resend registration link" has been removed.

Login screens

  • Simpplr has updated the login screen completely to feature your company's logo and branding.
  • New login screens are not applicable for SSO-only orgs, as they will continue to be redirected to their SSO provider. But existing orgs that use Email loginwill see the new login screen only.
