How to synchronize custom attributes to Entra ID using Entra ID Connect

To extend the synchronization to include employeeId (or any other attribute), follow the steps in this article.

Synchronize Additional Attributes with Azure AD

  1. Start Entra ID Connect (Azure AD Connect) and select Customize synchronization options.

  2. Click Next until you reach Optional Features, where you'll select Directory extension attribute sync.

  3. Clicking Next will bring you to the Directory extensions, where you can search and add the attributes you want to add to the synchronization scope. Look for the extension name and select the extension that shows with (user) only. Click Next.

  4. Check the box for Start the synchronization process when configuration complete, then click Configure.

  5. Once the synchronization finishes, you can find the field name in MS Graph explorer. Go to: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/graph-explorer.
  6. Click on the avatar at the upper right and log in.
  7. On the left hand navigation, select Get my profile.
  8. Switch from “v1.0” to “beta” and click Run query.

  9. In the “Response review” area, look for the attribute like the one below that corresponds to the Hire Date or the field you are trying to add to Simpplr.
