Navigation Refresh

Note:

The following note regarding the Nav Refresh is relevant for customers who have requested to be part of the early adopter program. This change will not impact existing customers for several months. Further, there will be emails sent out regarding the Nav change before it goes live for your instance. If you would like to enable the updated navigation early, please reach out to technical support and request it!

 
We’ve redesigned Simpplr’s navigation from the ground up to help you find what matters faster, with fewer clicks, improved personalization, and a cleaner experience across all screen sizes. No need to relearn anything—the new layout feels familiar but works better. Here's what’s new in Version 1 and how it benefits you:

• Left-side main navigation: The new left-hand navigation is tailored to each user, helping you discover content more easily and access key areas quicker. In user testing, this layout significantly reduced the time it takes to find important information.
• Role-aware “Mode nav": Users now see only the options that are relevant to their role, making the interface cleaner and more focused. You can quickly switch between User, My Team, Manage Features, Analytics, and App Settings—only if you have access.
• Personalized “Main nav”: Depending on the selected mode in the “Mode Nav,” you’ll see a customized set of tools and pages. This keeps your view focused on what’s available and important to you, reducing clutter and confusion.
• Streamlined header and user menu: We’ve simplified the top header to make room for what matters: your brand, a bigger search bar, and a more intuitive user menu. Everything you need, right where you expect it.
• All-new “Create” modal: The new “Create” button offers a central place to start tasks based on your permissions. It features a simple, two-by-two grid for creating Pages, Events, Albums, and more—without needing to dig through multiple menus.
• Accessibility and performance improvements: The updated navigation now includes full keyboard navigation, meets WCAG 2.2 AA color contrast standards, and maintains fast performance even in low-bandwidth environments—ensuring a better experience for all users.

This update delivers a more efficient, personalized, and inclusive way to navigate Simpplr, designed for both everyday users and power admins alike.

Custom form app tiles

The latest release introduces support for Custom Form App Tiles within the Tile Builder, leveraging the Bring Your Own Integration (BYOI) framework. This enhancement allows users to submit information through form-based interactions directly from their intranet dashboards to third-party applications.These tiles can be configured by app managers to trigger action-oriented API calls, such as POST transactions, enabling streamlined workflows like:

• Submitting service or IT tickets
• Creating tasks in external systems
• Requesting paid time off (PTO)

Additionally, app managers can define custom success and error states, ensuring a seamless and guided experience for end users.This feature enhances intranet interactivity and supports more dynamic, action-driven use cases directly within Simpplr.

New pre-built app tiles

We’re once again expanding Simpplr’s pre-built app tiles library. This update introduces three new app tiles, enhancing your intranet's integration capabilities and enabling users to seamlessly interact with popular third-party applications—directly from their home and site dashboards. These app tiles bring essential workflows front and center, helping users take action without leaving Simpplr.

This release also adds support for two new integrations:

• Greenhouse

These integrations allow users to connect their dashboard experience with critical work apps, enabling real-time insights and actions across departments like HR, Legal, and Project Management.

External search

Simpplr now supports External search, allowing users to connect up to five third-party, URL-based applications to the Simpplr global search experience. With this enhancement, users can enter a search term in Simpplr’s top search bar and see quick access links to external systems directly from the results page. Clicking a result opens the corresponding page in a new browser tab, enabling seamless navigation between Simpplr and connected platforms. This feature simplifies workflows by reducing the need to search across multiple platforms separately and is designed for all users who need to access content across connected platforms from within Simpplr.

Version history for draft content

Saved draft versions no longer offer direct restoration. This applies to drafts created before and after content publication. This prevents unintentional publishing of older drafts with a single click. If needed, users can edit existing drafts and republish.

Page category dropdown in move content modal

In Page categories, the users were not able to see the dropdown options.The options in the dropdown will now dynamically populate based on the selected site. This improves usability and ensures only relevant page categories are shown to the user, avoiding manual entry errors and enhancing the user experience.

 

Special features

Employee newsletter: Minimal newsletter template

A new minimal template is now available in the template picker during the newsletter creation process. Designed to mirror the look and feel of standard emails sent from platforms like Outlook or Gmail, this template removes traditional design elements such as headers, footers, colored backgrounds, and borders—resulting in a clean, distraction-free layout. This format is particularly effective for leadership messages, HR updates, or other sensitive communications, helping content feel more direct, personal, and impactful. The minimal design reflects the tone and style typically used by executives, making the message appear more authentic and reader-focused.

Employee Listening: Display of exact survey closing date and time

App managers can now set surveys to show the exact date and time they will close (for example, "Closes on 26 May 2025, 9:15 AM BST") instead of showing a message like "Closes in 2 days." This helps avoid confusion, especially for people in different time zones, and makes it easier for everyone to know the deadline and respond on time.

Mobile app/Frontline

Do Not Disturb (DND) sync with UKG Pro WFM

The Do Not Disturb (DND) feature now integrates with UKG Pro Workforce Management (WFM) to automatically suppress in-app notifications for employees during their non-working hours, based on clock-in and clock-out data synced from UKG. This helps reduce distractions and supports better work-life balance, especially for frontline users with varying schedules. App managers can configure this feature by selecting specific audiences, ensuring the right users benefit from the notification controls.

Audio/Video file sharing and recording in messaging

The messaging experience has been enhanced with support for audio and video file sharing and recording directly within chat conversations. Users can now upload supported media files such as MP4, WebM, and MP3, as well as record and send short audio or video clips within the chat interface. These media files can be played back inline, making conversations more engaging and easier to follow.This update is especially useful for frontline users who rely on mobile communication, and for app managers looking to support richer, more flexible messaging across teams.

Bug fixes

• Pages and other content takes long to load. The loading speed is slow
• The site owner created/added pictures to an album than added to the carousel but when you see it on the carousel the sides pictures are not showing. It shows at first than disappears
• Content validation not assigning correctly
• Videos uploaded to the Video tile on the site dashboard are not stored under Site Files - Site Videos folder
• A non-member of a private site got a notification in the digest email for a mention made in the comments for a user they follow
• Page not loading, showing error "Failed to Fetch"
• Blog comments are not being diplayed
• Site owners and managers are getting Something went wrong error when updating the list by removing a person
• The user count in adoption analytics is much higher than the actual number present in the database against the first login
• Tables don't have uniformity in row background in the mobile application
• Space issue on the text editor in new line
• Large gap above embedded video on Mobile
• Site error under people on site
• In notification emails, the people's images are not loading for all users
• Users are not able to receive emails
