Upload user profile photos in bulk

Simpplr allows Application managers to upload profile photos for their team members in bulk. Read the Need to Know below before following the instructions to complete bulk photo uploads. 

Need to Know Before Uploading

  • What if the format should the image files be in?

    • They can be jpg, jpeg or png format.

  • What should be the dimensions of the images?

    • Images will appear best at 500px by 500px.

    • If images are smaller than this, they won’t work.

    • Any larger, they will be cropped from left top, 500px by 500px size.

  • What should the name of the image files?

    • The name of each user's photo must be user’s email; for example, user.name@company.com.jpeg in order for the process to work correctly. 

  • How many photos can be uploaded in one batch?

    • Batch size can not be greater than 200 or less than 1.

  • What’s the maximum size allowed for a single image?

    • 10MB

  • What happens if there are more than 200 files in the ZIP/RAR/TAR?

    • The image files over and above the count of 200 are ignored.

  • Profile images will be uploaded for users in the following Statuses:

    • Active

    • Profile completion pending

    • You cannot upload a photo for a user who has not yet been added.

To upload user profile photos in bulk:

  1. Ensure you have a compressed .zip, .rar or .tar file of the images you'd like to use for your team members. Follow the guidelines for image requirements and sizes in the Need to Know above.
  2. Go to Manage > Users
  3. Click the caret next to Add or remove and click Add profile images for multiple users.

  4. Click Upload profile images.
  5. Upload the applicable file containing each user's photos. This must be either a ZIP or TAR file. The name of each user's photo must be user’s email; for example, user.name@company.com.jpeg, in order for the process to work correctly. 
  6. Once the file is uploaded, give the file a description. This can be something simple like "User profile images". Then click Save.AWS_bulk_upload_images_2.png
  7. Typically the upload will take up to 10 minutes. To see whether or not the upload was successful, go to Image history and look at the most recent completed job. You should see the upload time, completion time and your name, followed by the status. Click Download to view a file that will tell you whether the job was successful or not.

  8. You can also go to the users' profiles to see if the image was uploaded.
