Roles and permissions enhancementsRoles and permissions across Simpplr have undergone a major enhancement. Now, instead of custom permissions being assigned to custom roles, app managers can assign users additional roles that contain varying permissions. This change is expected to greatly decrease confusion and misalignment around roles and permissions in the intranet. As always, there will remain two system roles, app managers and standard users (formerly labeled end users). All new users will be assigned by default as standard users. This feature was rolled out as part of an Early Adopters Program, and is now generally available for all users.

Bring Your Own Integrations (BYOI)We're introducing Bring Your Own Integrations (BYOI) to Simpplr. With BYOI, app managers can set up custom 3rd party integrations to tie into the intranet. |
Custom app tilesThe BYOI feature includes custom app tiles and API actions you can set up all within your Simpplr intranet. |
New pre-built app tilesFour new out-of-the-box tiles have been added to the pre-built app tiles library, expanding the scope of integrations and functionalities available to users. These tiles allow users to: View your time-off balance from:

Multilingual content translation:Users with content publishing rights will now be able to add manual translations to Pages. This will allow users to make any edits over the Google automated translation, save them and also use a single page to target viewers of multiple languages. Who is this feature for? App manager, site managers, site owners, content managers, users with manage site roles. |
Save drafts on published and scheduled pagesUsers with content publishing permissions can now save drafts of already published or scheduled content. This allows for easier collaboration among other content creators. Before, if a piece of content was already published and needed an edit, the only option after the edit was to re-publish the page. Now, a page can be saved as a draft while the original remains the "live" version, and other collaborators can make changes before a new version is published. Note, as always, if a page is unpublished for any reason, then republished, this resets the page's validation period. Simply editing a page does not reset the validation period. |
People subscriptionUsers with All sites manager permission can now see the Manage > Subscriptions menu and subscribe users to specific “People” on the intranet. Similar to how one would subscribe to sites, when users follow people, they will be recommended their published content, see their updates and more. This is the same functionality as manually "following" a user on the intranet. |
Cover image cropperWhile uploading cover images to your content, Simpplr will allow you to crop the image with two size ratios; Square (1:1) and Widescreen (16.9). These two ratios are defined in our system to maintain the quality and size of the image throughout the application (tiles, content listing, carousel, campaign, feed, emails, etc.). |
Disable file preview for specified usersWe have added the option to remove a file from the file preview screen for specified users, adding a layer of security to the intranet. |
Remove 'Add to calendar' link from event when RSVP limit is reachedWhen there is a limit on RSVPs for an event, after the limit is reached, we are now disabling the 'Add to calendar' link. Users who are already in the attendee list will still see 'Add to calendar' and can add the event in their external calendars. Note that we do not support RSVP limits for events synced to external calendars, so this change is not applicable there. |
New languages - Hindi and AlbanianWe have enabled Hindi and Albanian in the platform. |
Additional reactions on Feed 2.0 (limited availability)We're excited to introduce reactions on the feed! With six expressive emojis to choose from, you can now easily react to posts and replies, adding a new layer of engagement and feedback to your feed experience. Whether you're celebrating a win, showing support, or sharing your thoughts, Reactions make it easier than ever to connect and communicate with your colleagues. Note: This feature is only available on Feed 2.0, which, for the time being, is only available to new customers. Feed 2.0 will be rolled out to everyone later in 2025. |
Pending activation status removed - Users are now provisioned as 'Active' by defaultWe have removed the 'Pending activation' status from user status. Now, upon creation, all users will appear as 'Active' even before their first login. This is because they're consuming a license, and should appear as 'Active'. Additionally, we have added a new filter, 'First Login,' to enable app managers to identify users who have not completed their first login. This change ensures that users are accurately reflected across all features, especially Analytics. First time login flow for the new users remains the same. They will have to set their password in order to login. This enhancement, when enabled, would apply for all users. Simpplr will run a script to convert all the existing 'Pending activation' users into 'Active' status so that there is no action needed from customer's side. |
Just-in-Time (JIT) syncingSimilar to our Just-in-Time provisioning feature, Simpplr now allows Just-in-Time user syncing. |
Improved profile page: Clickable fields for easy navigationWe have enhanced the user profile page by making fields such as Department, Job Title, and Division clickable. This feature allows users to click on these fields and navigate directly to the People menu, where a filter is automatically applied to display users matching the selected field value. This improvement simplifies navigation and enhances the discoverability of related user information. |
Feed sort and filterUsers can now sort and filter their feed posts

Special features |
Employee Newsletter enhancementsNewsletter managers can now customize the email preview text that recipients see in their inboxes. This preview text appears alongside the subject line. Users can optimize the text to align with their newsletter’s purpose, increasing the likelihood of engagement. |
Recognition sharing to SlackRecognition posts can now be shared to Slack channels. Users can choose to share a given recognition directly or all recognition posts can be automatically sent to a specific Slack channel. This requires the Slack integration to be enabled at the application and user levels. |
Native video caption/transcript translations and editsUsers can translate Native video captions and transcripts. In addition, users can edit video transcripts. As organizations become increasingly global, employees and users consume content in various languages. Auto-generated captions and translations ensure that video content is accessible to a diverse and global audience. |
Native messaging is now available to all customersRecently part of an Early Adopter's Program, the Simpplr Native messaging feature can now be enabled in your intranet. Native messaging allows your users to communicate with each other via a Chat embedded on the top navigation bar of their dashboards, or message in groups. |
